The Masters Team program is for experienced skiers and racers that are ready for the next step after Learn to Loppet and want a season long skate and classic program that focuses on race training and technique instruction. The group will meet at Cypress Mountain on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the night skiing season. The first Tuesday night session will be December 13 and the first Wednesday night session will be December 14. Tuesdays will focus on intensity training and race strategies which will involve participation in the Cypress Tuesday night races. Sign up starts at 6:30 PM in the brown bag room and the races start at 7 PM. For details and race schedule for the Tuesday Night Races click here. You can also follow the blog (you need to register as a "follower"). Email Bruno Bagneres to be added to the race mailing list.
Wednesdays will focus on technique instruction, drills and intensity intervals. The group will meet in the brown bag room at 6:30 PM on Wednesdays. The program will run until night skiing ends in mid-March, exact date to be determined. The program is expected to run for 13 weeks, not including the week between Christmas and New Years.
Weekend training will be informal, optional and on your own, but expected and highly recommended. Past experience has indicated it is too difficult to get the group together on weekends so we will not meet formally on weekends. Individual training plans will be developed for weekend workouts which will include Zone 1 distance skiing, day trips to Whistler Olympic Park and/or participation at various loppets throughout the season.
We will train an even mix of both classic and skate. If you only ski one technique, you are still welcome to join us for each session as most of the drills and workouts translate for both techniques. However, technique priority will be given to the technique scheduled for that night. The first session will be skate.
The program runs rain or shine and will only be cancelled if Cypress is closed or if the Tuesday Night Race organizers cancel a race. Check the Cypress web site or snow phone before heading up the mountain and check the Tuesday night web site for race information updates.

The program is limited to 12 participants. Program includes registration for the Tuesday night races but does not include trail passes. Car pool information will be provided to registered participants within a week of the program start up. An e-mail will be used to keep participants updated as to which technique we will be doing from week to week. You must be a Nordic Racer member to register for the Masters Team.
