Learn to Loppet Classic Technique
Click here for 2012 program information. Check again next year to regirster.
Beginner L2L – If you have never entered a loppet, but you want to, this is for you. It is also for those who have done a 15K recreational and now want to tackle a 30km distance. You can ski the Sitzmark loop and up to Triangle Lakes. You know how to double pole, but aren’t sure when you should, and you but have yet to master kick-double pole. Downhills make you a little nervous. Sometimes you hear that beaver slap sound coming from behind you but you don’t know why. You want to get some tips and training ideas so your first loppet is as much fun as possible.
Intermediate L2L – You have a couple loppets under your water bottle holder. You are working on double poling more, one-kick double pole, and you want to maximize your speed. You want tips on ski technique to match the terrain, getting up hills without back slipping, and how to finish the race and still have the energy to want to dance all night at the after party.
Advanced L2L – you have that one-kick double pole thing down. You want to pick up your speed – beat your friend who always finishes just ahead of you. Your timing needs to be fine tuned, and you really want to maximize the time you spend going fast on your skis in class.
Learn to Loppet Skate Technique

This program has sold out. We are now taking a waitlist. Please email Sherryl if you want to be on the waitlist.
Beginner L2L – If you have yet to tackle your first loppet, this class is for you. You can get up to Triangle Lakes but there is some herring bone involved. You want to learn to diagonal skate, and get familiar with the difference between one skate and two skate. You want to zoom around downhills not snowplow through.
Intermediate L2L – You are working on that one-skate thing, but you want to know when you are supposed to use it instead of offset technique. You’ve done a couple of loppets and you want to improve your speed with smarter terrain skiing, offsetting to the correct lead, and working that step turn through the downhill corner.
Advanced L2L –That balance/timing in the one-skate is not a problem for you, and you can offset with either a left or a right lead. Your goal is to improve your personal best time by fine tuning your technique and spending lots of time training at a fast tempo.

Summer and Fall Dryland Training
For those who have never tried it, "dryland training" is simply training in the off-season. It combines many elements, including strength, endurance, balance, and ski-specific activities. It's the perfect way to get in shape for the ski season, and is ideal for developing or maintaining general fitness (the perfect complement to a weekend hike or bike ride). Dryland sessions include running, intervals, hill climbs, plyometrics (jump training) and exercises to increase strength and balance. Workouts are self-paced and can be tailored to your own fitness level. You don't have to be super-fit (you should be able to run at least 2 km comfortably), and no equipment is needed except for ski poles (downhill-length poles are best).
