A different kind of training!

A lot of high level racing is coming to a ski area near you, and your chance to be front and centre on that action is through volunteering.  Anyone can volunteer, but those with training get better positions...yes, that’s a hint.  If you are interested in helping out at the high level races in the Callaghan Valley, start out with a Level 1 Officials course, to get an overview of how a race works, how all the volunteer teams fit together, and learn about what areas you would like to work in.

There are two options – there is a Level 1 course in Whistler on October 29.  Contact Tobi Henderson at admin@whistlernordics.com for the details.

Or, you can take the course right here in North Vancouver on November 19.  All the details are at this link, where you can sign up.  Note that lunch is provided for you at this session.

If you are a club member and take the course, and volunteer for an event in the Callaghan Valley, either the Haywood NorAm World Junior/U23 trials running January 12-15, or the Payak on February 25, 2012, the Nordic Racers will reimburse you the full cost of the course.  What a deal!  Vollie swag, fun times, and the club pays for your training.

Already have your Level 1 and you’re feeling ready for a new challenge?  There is a Level 2 course in Whistler, November 4-6, contact Tobi Henderson.

If you are not able to travel to Whistler, but are interested in taking your Level 2 training, please contact Sherryl at president@nordicracers.ca and if there is sufficient interest a local course can be organized.

Last, but not least – do you like being in the stadium or the race office, working with timing and computers?  Take the Zone4 clinic (date TBA, contact Tobi Henderson at admin@whistlernordics.com for more details) and learn the software program that runs the race lists, timing, sprint fields....it’s fun!   For more information about the officials training schedule, see this link.
