The Learn to Loppet program is geared for people who can ski at a basic level and are not complete beginners. If you have skied several times, can ski up to Hollyburn Lodge (even slowly) in one go, understand the basics, and want to learn more, this is the program for you.
We have a range of levels that include thinking of a first loppet (Norwegian for family fun race) to wanting to seriously improve your time in a loppet. Our experienced coaches will help improve your up, down, and skiing through the transitions. Part of each session is also dedicated to bumping up your fitness and coaches will structure exercises that let you push yourself at your own pace. The sessions are scheduled to prepare people for specific loppets if they want a chance to put their new skills and fitness to work.
The Learn to Loppet 2013 will have one classic program on Wednesday nights - January 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. We will have two skating programs this year, the first will run concurrently with the classic sessions. The target loppets of the January sessions are the classic Cariboo Marathon Gold Rush on Feb. 9 or the Payak freestyle (skating) loppet on Feb. 23. The second skate program will run Feb 6, 13, 20, 27, and March 6. The February skating program will be aimed at the Whistler Olympic Park Woppet on April 1.
The L2L programs also include pre-race support at the target loppets so that your wax, clothing, nutrition, and strategy will be appropriate.
Both of these loppets are club trips and the Nordic Racers arrange accommodations. Registration for the loppets and accommodations are separate from the L2L registration.
Register for L2L classic and skate 1 before December 21, 2012 and before January 25, 2013 for the skate 2 program to get the early bird rate of $110. Registration is limited so don't delay. After the early bird deadline prices increase by $40.
