Adaptive Cross-Country Ski Education (ACE) Program

ACE Your Skills!

On December 11th, the Nordic Racers Adaptive Committee will be hosting our first Adaptive Coach Education (ACE) program at Whistler Olympic Park. This 3-hour on-snow workshop will give you an introduction to helping skiers with physical disabilities get out and enjoy cross-country skiing. So if you've ever thought about getting involved as a coach or volunteer with our Skiing is Believing program or just have a friend or family member with a disability and aren't quite sure how to get them out on the trails, here's your chance to learn from experienced coaches. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to actually try a sit-ski!

Led by club coach Jamie Stirling and past national para-nordic development team support staff, Kathy Oxner, this clinic will help you understand the unique needs of skiers with different physical disabilities, including amputees, people who are blind or visually impaired, wheelchair users and conditions that affect muscle control such as brain injuries and cerebral palsy.

Cost is just $25 per person. If you don't already have a trail pass, you can purchase one through us at a reduced rate of $20 per person. The clinic will run from 10am to 1pm at Whistler Olympic Park so you'll still have the afternoon to get in a good ski.

When you volunteer for any Skiing is Believing clinic, we'll reimburse you the $25 cost of the ACE workshop.
